Requirements for New Officials

There are a few necessary steps you must take before you can become fully certified to officiate the girls game of lacrosse:

  • Attend a new officials training workshop.
    • The chapters for San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles offer these bi-annually.
  • Pay a $20 training fee.
  • Pay annual dues to the San Diego County Lacrosse Umpire Board (SDCLUB).
    • Senior officials (18 years or older)- $65.
    • Junior officials (high school student)- $34.
  • Pay deposit to the assignor if officiating high school games- $50
  • Maintain an active US Lacrosse membership- $30-50 annually.
  • Pass both the US Lacrosse Girls' and Youth tests.
  • Perform required shadowing or service hours.

Your whistle, flag, cards and measuring tape will be provided for you after successful completion of your training.  You will be responsible for purchasing your officials uniform consisting of striped shirt, black bottoms, black shoes and watch.

US Lacrosse also offers an equipment grant for new officials to help offset the initial cost.
